Members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, 2 District Criminal Investigation Branch, have been conducting an ongoing investigation into reports of a male who was approaching young females at the Outlet Collections of Niagara 300 Taylor Road, in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

As part of this continued investigation, on Tuesday May 14, 2019, an arrest was made as a result of a complaint from an 18-year-old female who had been sexually assaulted.

The offence is alleged to have occurred on May 4, 2019 at the Outlet Mall. The victim and the accused were not previously known to each other.

24-year-old Salih Sarieyyupoglu of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Sarieyyupoglu is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday May 15, 2019, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

The investigation has not uncovered any links between the actions of the accused and the communities' concern of human trafficking.

Investigators believe that potentially there are additional victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Branch at 905-688-4111, Option 3 Ext. 9994.
