After an almost month-long search for a suspect, Niagara Regional Police have charged a Fort Erie man with performing stunts on his motorcycle.

Police were called to the area of Derby Road and Conway Place in Fort Erie just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 to investigate a report of a motorcyclist driving dangerously.

Soon after, an officer saw a motorcycle in the area of Ridgeway Road and Roxborough Road speeding and doing wheelies.

“The driver then drove up and down Roxborough Avenue accelerating past police in attempts to bait police into a pursuit,” police said in a news release last month.

“Police did not initiate a pursuit out of concern for the safety of the public.”

On Friday, May 3, officers met with a suspect.

The 20-year-old Fort Erie man has now been charged with:

  • Driving a vehicle while performing a stunt
  • Operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance
  • Using a plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an improper licence

In addition the motorcycle, a black and grey Yamaha R6, was impounded and the suspect’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.
