Additional arrests made in St. Catharines shooting from 2019

Detectives from the 1 District St. Catharines Criminal Investigative Branch continue to investigate the shooting incident that occurred in downtown St. Catharines on September 29, 2019, that resulted in six persons being shot. 

On the morning of March 27, 2020, with the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, the Niagara Regional Police Service arrested a 29-year-old male and a 26-year-old female and charged them in connection to this shooting investigation. 

29-year-old Jamar Stephens of Scarborough is facing the following alleged Criminal Code offences:

  • Aggravated Assault - C.C. sec 268(1) X 6
  • Discharging Firearm with Intent to Wound - C.C. sec 244(1) X 6
  • Discharge Firearm - recklessness - C.C. sec 244.2(1)(b)
  • Pointing a Firearm - C.C. sec 87(1)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm - C.C. sec 91(1) X 2
  • Using Firearm in Commission of Offence - C.C. sec 85(1)(a)
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily accessible - C.C. sec 95(1)
  • Possession of a prohibited device - C.C. sec 88(1)
  • Possession of prohibited ammunition - C.C. sec 88(1)
  • Careless storage of a prohibited firearm - C.C. sec 86(1)
  • Careless storage of a prohibited device - C.C. sec 86(1)
  • Careless storage of prohibited ammunition - C.C. sec 86(1)

26-year-old Kaitlan Miller of Scarborough is facing the following alleged Criminal Code offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm - C.C. sec 91(1)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle - C.C. sec 94(1)
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily accessible - C.C. sec 95(1)
  • Possession of a prohibited device - C.C. sec 88(1)
  • Possession of prohibited ammunition - C.C. sec 88(1)
  • Careless storage of a prohibited firearm - C.C. sec 86(1)
  • Careless storage of a prohibited device - C.C. sec 86(1)
  • Careless storage of prohibited ammunition - C.C. sec 86(1)
  • Obstruct Police - C.C. 129(a)

Wilson and Miller are being held in custody pending a video bail hearing on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the John Sopinka Courthouse in the City of Hamilton
