Original Sept. 30, 2019 release
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were called to the area of St. Paul Street and William Street in downtown St. Catharines.

When officers arrived they discovered six people with apparent gunshot wounds in the area outside of Karma nightclub. It is believed that multiple shots were fired during this incident.

Four males and two females ranging in age from 31-48 were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Subsequently, two people were transported to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Out of an abundance of caution, as the suspects remain outstanding, further information regarding the victims is not being released at this time.

Investigation by 1 District (St. Catharines) Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) detectives has revealed that the gun shots stemmed from an apparent dispute which resulted in an exchange of gunfire between two male suspects. At this time the relationship between the victims and the alleged shooters is unknown. Detectives do not believe this was a random event.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1:
Black male in his 20s wearing a blue North Face jacket with black shoulders, dark pants and dark shoes.

Suspect 2:
Black male, unknown age wearing a dark long sleeve shirt, lighter coloured pants and dark running shoes

The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous; and should not be approached. If anyone recognizes the suspects, they are asked to contact police immediately or Crime Stoppers.

Through the course of the investigation, it has been determined that hundreds of potential witnesses were in the area at the time of the shooting. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or have cell phone video footage of the incident to contact police at (905) 688-4111, dial option 3, Badge #9451 or [email protected]
