It was the Simcoe Giants cruising to victory in the senior ball OBA tournament hosted by Thorold at McMillan Park over the weekend.

Jay Knelsen went three for three at the plate, hitting two singles and a double and scoring three times to lead the Giants to a 10-0 romp over Creemore. Rem Beninger was the winning pitcher for Simcoe.

The hosts, Thorold Credit Union Anchors, lost their opener to the eventual champion Giants and then were eliminated by Mitchell in their second outing.

Twelve teams competed at home field McMillan as well as at Oakes Park in Niagara Falls and Burgar Park in Welland.

The weekend also featured the first Legion Ball reunion on Friday evening. Participants are looking forward to getting together with former teammates next year.
