UPDATE: Weapons Incident at Brock University in St. Catharines

Victims have been treated and released.

On March 21, 2019, at approximately 8:00 p.m. uniform officers from the 1 District - St. Catharines office of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to Brock University for a report of a shooting.

The investigation determined that two male suspects had confronted three Brocks students with weapons on the campus.  The three Brocks student were all assaulted.  The two suspects had already fled the campus in a car before the arrival of the police. 

The three male Brock students in their 20s were located near a residence with injuries.  Two of the males sustained non-life threatening stab injuries.  The third victim sustained a non-life threatening injury as a result of a struggle with the unknown suspects.  He was not shot by the pellet gun.  All of the victims were transported by Paramedics to a local hospital.  The victims have been treated and released. 

The weapons used by the suspects which included a knife and a pellet gun have not been recovered by the police.


Suspect Descriptions


Suspect 1 male, slim build in his 20s, possibly of East Indian descent. 
- Wearing a dark toque and a dark mask covering the low portion of his face.  Dark coloured clothing.


Suspect 2 male, slim build in his 20s, possibly of East Indian descent. 
- Wearing light coloured clothing, possibly grey pants.


A getaway car was used by the suspects however there is no definitive description for release at this time.
 

The scene at Brock University has been processed by our Forensic Services Unit and has been released.


This matter remains under investigation by detectives from the 1 District Criminal Investigations Branch.  Early indications are that this was a targeted incident.
