Niagara Regional Police Constable Phil Gavin has reported:

At approximately 8 p.m. our 1 District St Catharines officers responded to a report of a shooting at Brock University in St. Catharines.

They arrived on scene and located three injured persons.

Two persons were suffering from stab wounds and one person was injured as a result of being shot with what is believed to be a pellet gun.

All have been transported to a local hospital with what is believed to be non life threatening injuries.

Four suspects were observed fleeing the campus in a car.

More descriptions ASAP. No arrests at this point.

It is very early in the investigation but there are indications that this was a targeted incident and that there is no ongoing threat to safety from this incident on campus.

We have not asked for nor is there a lock down on Brock University Campus as a result of this incident.

The injuries to those involved are believed to be non life threatening.

We are actively investigating this incident. At present there has not been any arrests in relation to this matter.

It is our belief the suspects have fled the campus of what is suspected to be a targeted incident. While students and staff are free to move about the University we would ask them to stay clear of the the police investigation.
