Youth charged in Welland high school incident

As a result of the investigation into the stabbing that occurred on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Notre Dame College School in Welland, the Niagara Regional Police Service have charged a 17-year-old male with the following alleged charges:

  • Aggravated assault, Contrary to section 268(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Uttering threats, Contrary to Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Breach of recognizance, Contrary to Section 811 of the Criminal Code

Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused is not being released.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing on Thursday May 2, 2019 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
