Woman charged after fraudulent bank accounts created

In August 2019, the Niagara Regional Police Service received additional complaints from a financial institution regarding the creation and use of fraudulent bank accounts.

As a result of an investigation by detectives of the Central Fraud Unit, on Oct. 22, 2019, 26-year-old Kiona Campbell of no fixed address was rearrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Breach of recognizance order

Also arrested was Marissa MacDonald, 28 years old of St. Catharines. MacDonald is charged with one count of breach of recognizance order.

Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Oct. 23, 2019.
