Woman accused of arson after garage fire in Fort Erie

Police say they responded to a call of a detached garage fire on Saturday

On Nov. 14, 2020, at approximately 7:10 p.m., 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) and the Fort Erie Fire Department, attended a residence in the area of Dufferin Street and Robinson Street, in the Town of Fort Erie, for a report of a structure fire to a detached garage.  

As a result of the investigation, detectives with 5 District (Fort Erie), have reason to believe the fire was caused by arson.  

On Nov. 14, 2020, a suspect was arrested. 

Monique Beaulne (57 years old) of Fort Erie, was arrested and charged with the following offence of:  

  • Arson causing damage to own property contrary to section 434.1 of the Criminal Code 

Beaulme was held in custody and is scheduled for a video bail hearing on Nov. 15, 2020.

The scene is currently being held.
