Welland man charged in St. Catharines murder

A 53-year-old man is dead and 28-year-old Alexander Windsor stands accused of second degree murder

At approximately 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, 1 District uniform officers were called to a residence in the area of Collier Street and Westchester Avenue in St. Catharines for a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old male in distress. He was transported to hospital where he was then pronounced deceased.

Following an investigation by detectives with the homicide unit, a male suspect was identified and arrested.

28-year-old Alexander Windsor from the City of Welland is facing the following charge:

  • Second degree murder

Windsor is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at the John Sopinka courthouse in the City of Hamilton via video link.
