Welland man charged in sexual assault investigation involving a minor

In January of 2019, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Sexual Assault Unit entered into an investigation regarding allegations of historical sexual assault between 1995 and 1999 in the City of Welland.

As a result of that investigation, on Thursday May 9, 2019 an arrest was made in relation to the assault on a female who was, at the time, between the ages of 11 and 13.

Forty-eight-year-old Kevin Schneider of Welland is facing the following alleged charges:
    •    two counts of sexual assault
    •    two counts of sexual interference
    •    two counts of sexual exploitation
    •    two counts of invitation to sexual touching

Schneider is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

Investigators believe that there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sexual Assault Unit at (905) 688-4111, Option 4 ext. 5100.
