Victim stabbed, suffers life-threatening injuries at Niagara Falls hotel

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at approximately 12:05 a.m., 2 District uniform officers responded to a Niagara Falls hotel in the area of Kitchener Street and Slater Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim outside of one of the motel rooms suffering from an apparent stab wound. The man was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and personnel from the Niagara Falls Fire Service.

The victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation led officers to a nearby room and an arrest was made.

George McKenna (34 years old) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offences of:
    •    Aggravated assault sec. 268(1)

The scene was processed by detectives from the Forensic Services Unit.

McKenna was held in custody and will attend a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on March 31, 2020.
