Vehicle located in St. Catharines hit and run investigation

Cyclist suffered serious, possibly life-threatening injuries

The vehicle involved in this collision has been located. The Niagara Regional Police Service would like to thank those members of the public who called in to provide information regarding the involved vehicle.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Original Oct. 1 release
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 at approximately 12:10 a.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service, St. Catharines Fire Service and the Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a collision involving a cyclist on Welland Avenue east of Grantham Avenue in the City of St. Catharines. 

Upon arrival, officers located a 51-year-old male cyclist with serious injuries. The vehicle involved in this collision failed to remain at the scene and was last seen travelling westbound on Welland Avenue at a high rate of speed. The male cyclist was transported to a local hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the offending vehicle is a white Lexus. The vehicle is suspected to have damage to the front passenger side headlight and will be missing the passenger side mirror assembly.

Detectives are appealing to members of the public and collision repair businesses to report any vehicles that may match the suspect vehicle description and damage.

Residents and businesses in the area of the collision with closed circuit cameras are asked to review their footage for the suspect white Lexus.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call the Niagara Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-688-4111, ext. 5500.
