Detectives with 2 District (Niagara Falls) Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) have recovered the vehicle believed to have been involved in this incident in Niagara Falls.
Aug. 23 9:30 a.m. update:
Detectives continue to search for the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident on Aug. 23, 2019 in the City of Niagara Falls.
It is described as a 2008 2-door white Honda Accord with Ontario licence plate "CKLZ 605"
29-year-old Gurjot Kooner of the City of Mississauga is facing the following alleged charges:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Assault police
Kooner is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines on Friday Aug. 23, 2019.

Aug. 23 original release:
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers were called to the area of Drummond and Dunn St in the City of Niagara Falls over the reports of a vehicle driving erratically. The officer was able to initiate a traffic stop, but was then subsequently dragged a short distance following an interaction.
One shot was fired by the officer involved towards the vehicle. No injuries were sustained.
The suspect fled in the vehicle, the officer was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 a male suspect was arrested in the area of Magdalen Street and McGrail Avenue in Niagara Falls.
Police are still searching for the suspect vehicle involved, described as a 2008 2 door white Honda Accord with Ontario licence plate "CKLZ 605"
