Two face trafficking charges after trying to cross the Peace Bridge

Police say the pair were trying to get into Buffalo New York when the man was recognized for an incident earlier this month

On Aug. 12, 2020, at approximately 8 p.m. 5 District Fort Erie uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called to the Peace Bridge by members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) after a wanted man and woman were arrested.

Officers attended and their initial investigation determined that at approximately 5 p.m. a man and a woman attempted to drive a Kia Sorrento across the Peace Bridge into Buffalo, N.Y. The vehicle was referred for further inspection by CBSA officers, during which a loaded firearm and suspected drugs was found. The man and woman were arrested. As result of determining the man's identity, it was found he was wanted in relation to an incident that occurred on Aug. 9, 2020, in Strathroy, Ont.  

5 District uniform officers continued the arrest by the CBSA officers. NRPS 5 District detectives have now taken over the investigation.

Alexandre Andre Allie (25 years old) of London has been arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of: 

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its not authorized  
  • Unauthorized importation of a prohibited firearm knowing its not authorized 
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle 
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm knowing its not authorized  
  • Possess schedule I substance for trafficking(cocaine) 
  • Possess schedule I substance (methamphetamine-crystal) 
  • Fail to comply with release order (two counts)

Amanda Moore (28 years old) of Stratford has been arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:  

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its not authorized 
  • Unauthorized importation of a prohibited firearm knowing its not authorized  
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle 
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm knowing its not authorized  
  • Possess schedule I substance for trafficking (cocaine)  
  • Possess schedule I substance (methamphetamine-crystal)

Allie and Moore were held in custody to attend a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Aug. 13, 2020.
