Two charged with break and enter in Fort Erie

On June 1, 2020, Fort Erie 5 District officers and the K9 Unit responded to a break and enter in progress, in the area of Catherine Street and Aberdeen Street, in the Town of Fort Erie which led to two arrests.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, further investigation by detectives has led to the laying of the additional charges on Greg Tarantini. 

Tarantini is further charged with the alleged offences of:

  • Break and enter, Sec. 348(1)(b) C.C (4 Counts)

Tarantini is expected to appear in court, on June 9th, 2020. 

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review the property located in Tarantini's residence. Detectives anticipate further charges to be laid.

Original June 2 release:

On June 1, 2020, at approximately 4:00 a.m., 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers and the K9 Unit responded to a break and enter in progress, in the area of Catherine Street and Aberdeen Street, in the Town of Fort Erie.

Officers attended the area and a K9 track led uniform officers to a residence of a possible suspect in the area of Lavinia Street and Douglas Street, in the Town of Fort Erie.

The investigation was continued by detectives from the 5 District Detective Office, who subsequently arrested a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence.

As a result, stolen property from the break and enter was located and seized. During the search detectives located property linked to multiple break and enters that have occurred in the last few months. A prohibited weapon was also located.

Greg Tarantini (40 years old) of Fort Erie is charged with the alleged offences:

  • Break and enter, Sec. 348(1)(b) C.C.
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Sec. 355(b) C.C.
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon, Sec. 92(2) C.C.
  • Fail to comply with release order, Sec. 145(5)(a) C.C.

Dawn Russo (40 years old) of Fort Erie is charged with the alleged offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Sec. 355(b) C.C.
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon, Sec. 92(2) C.C.

Greg Tarantini was held for a video bail hearing on June 2, 2020. Dawn Russo was released on an undertaking.  She will appear in court on June 16, 2020 at the Courthouse, located at 200 Jarvis Street, in the Town of Fort Erie, in relation to these charges.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review the property located in Tarantini's residence. Detectives anticipate further charges to be laid in relation to break and enters in Fort Erie as detectives follow up with break and enter complainants.
