Two charged in drug investigation

Among the charges for both was possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

Since early 2020, the Niagara Regional Police Service has been receiving complaints of possible illegal drug dealing from a residence in the City of Thorold.

Detectives from the 1 District St. Catharines Street Crime Unit commenced an investigation that led them to a house in the area of Chapel Street South and Welland Canals Parkway in Thorold. The investigation also led to the identification of a suspect man and woman who were associated to the Thorold house. 

On April 9, 2020, detectives formed grounds for the arrest of the man and woman. They were arrested after exiting a house in the area of Church Street and Niagara Street in St. Catharines.

Travis Gillan (50 years old) of Thorold has been arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply – Probation Order  

Gillan was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date of June 11, 2020, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Stephanie Audet (37 years old) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply – Undertaking

Audet was held in custody for a video bail hearing to occur on April 10, 2020.
