Two arrested after armed home robbery

On Feb. 8, 2019 at approximately 11:45 p.m., two males forced their way into a north end Niagara Falls residence.

The males were in possession of two long guns. They demanded money and valuables from the home owners then quickly fled the residence. 

There were no injuries as a result of this incident. 

Police located and arrested the involved males. Both long guns were safely recovered by police. 

The accused, Jonathan Sewell, 27 years of age, from Oakville was charged with Break And Enter With Intent, Possession of Prohibited Firearm Without Holding A Valid Licence, Pointing Firearm, Robbery, Disguised With Intent, Possession Of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition and Possession Of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered With.

The accused, Stephen Atherley, 28 years of age, from Toronto was charged with Break And Enter With Intent, Possession Of Prohibited Firearm Without Holding A Valid Licence, Pointing A Firearm, Robbery, Disguised With Intent, Possession Of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Possession Of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered With, Possession of Firearm Contrary To Prohibition Order, Fail To Comply With Probation Order and Fail To Comply With Recognizance.

Both accused were taken to the Niagara Regional Police Central Cells and held pending a bail hearing.
