More than $110,000 in drugs seized in Thorold fentanyl investigation

In May of 2019, the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into the sales of fentanyl in the City of Thorold.

On May 22, 2019, members of Welland Street Crime, Welland Criminal Investigations Branch and St. Catharines Street Crime Units arrested 20-year-old Mossahmmi Lee-Sharpe of Mississauga. A quantity of fentanyl and cocaine was seized at the time.

On May 22, a search warrant was executed at the accused residence which yielded evidence of a complete distribution centre. Further, police seized a substantial quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and currency.

The quantity of drugs seized has an estimated street value exceeding $110,000, and currency exceeding $50,000.

Twenty-year-old Mossahmmi Lee-Sharpe of Mississauga has been charged with the alleged offences of:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking opioids (two counts)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime exceeding $5,000

Mossahmmi Lee-Sharpe has been held in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the St. Catharines court house on May 24, 2019.
