Three from St. Catharines accused of trafficking meth, fentanyl

In August of 2020, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime Unit, began an investigation into the sales of fentanyl, from a residence, in the area of McDonald Street and Rebecca Street, in the City of St. Catharines. 

On Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, three suspects were arrested.

Subsequently, detectives with 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime and the Emergency Task Unit, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

In total, detectives seized 21.2 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,800, eight grams of crystal methamphetamine, $3,530 in proceeds of property obtained by crime, $5,620 of Canadian currency, working digital scales and indicators of trafficking.

Donald Blake (24 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance to wit: Fentanyl contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance to wit: Crystal Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Blake was released on a Form 10 – undertaking, and is expected to appear at court on Oct. 15, 2020 at Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.

Jessica A. Fackrell (30 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance to wit: Fentanyl contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance to wit: Crystal Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Fackrell was released on a Form 10 – undertaking, and is expected to appear at court on Oct. 15, 2020 at Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines. 

Eric R. Benson (34 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance to wit: Fentanyl contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code

Benson was released on a Form 10 – undertaking, and is expected to appear at court on Oct. 15, 2020 at Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
