Thorold man arrested in Niagara on the Lake break and enter

Police say the suspect entered a car that was in the garage and drove away

On Feb. 28, 2021, 2 District uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police were called to a residence in Niagara on the Lake regarding a possible break and enter.

Officers attended a home in the area of Ricardo Street and Melville Street. Officers determined that the garage to the home had been entered and the car parked in the garage had been moved. The garage door was then left open.

The investigation was assigned to detectives. The investigation determined that on Feb. 25, 2021, at approximately 3:25 p.m. an unknown male entered the garage of the house. The male suspect entered a car that was in the garage and drove away about two minutes later. The male suspect returned in the car approximately 12 minutes later, backed the car into the garage, covered it, and left.

The car described as a “Shelby Cobra replica” was not damaged.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect. On March 2, 2021, detectives arrested Kevin Edward Turner (49 years old) of Thorold. Turner has been arrested and charged with the offences of:

  • Break, enter and commit theft of motor vehicle contrary to 348(1)(b) CC
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to 733.1(1) CC

Turner was held in custody for a bail hearing via video link to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on March 3, 2021.
