Suspect sought in trio of robberies

Detectives with 3 District (Welland) Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) are investigating three early morning robberies in the City of Welland.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 a male and female were approached by a male suspect in the area of Niagara Street and Church Street and robbed.

Following that, within a 30-minute span, a gas station in the area of Niagara Street and Thorold Road and a convenience store in the area of Thorold Road and Prince Charles Drive were also robbed by a male matching a similar description.

In all three robberies, what is believed to be a handgun was displayed.

The male suspect is described as:

  • White
  • Approximately 5-foot-6 tall
  • Medium build
  • Wearing dark pants and a black and grey jacket and a black winter hat with a black bandana over his face
