Update 2 Jan. 15, 2019

The homicide victim has been identified as 53-year-old St. Catharines resident Richard Norman Williamson.

Update 1 Jan. 6, 2019

As part of the ongoing investigation, on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, a second male suspect was identified. At 1:20 p.m., the male was located in Niagara Falls and arrested.

30-year-old Adam Gretzinger of Niagara Falls is facing the alleged charge of:

  • Second degree murder

Gretzinger is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines

Original release

At approximately 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 1 District Uniform Officers were called to a residence in the area of Collier Street and Westchester Ave. in St. Catharines for a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old male in distress. He was transported to hospital where he was then pronounced deceased.

Following an investigation by detectives with the Homicide Unit, a male suspect was identified and arrested.

28-year-old Alexander Windsor from Welland is facing the following alleged charge:

  • Second degree murder

Windsor is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at the John Sopinka courthouse in Hamilton via video link.
