St. Catharines graffiti investigation yields one arrest

Police find 25 similar tags throughout city

In September of 2020, detectives from 1 District (St. Catharines), with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), began an investigation into ongoing Graffiti occurring in the City of St. Catharines.

Investigation revealed that a similar tag had been placed throughout the City of St. Catharines, appearing at 25 different locations.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect.

On Saturday, October 17th, 2020, the suspect was arrested.

Jared Pye (25 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

  • Mischief under $5,000 (5 Counts)
  • Mischief over $5,000 (Global Charge)

Pye was released on a Form 10 - Undertaking and is expected to appear at court on Jan. 8, 2021, at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
