Single-vehicle crash results in life-threatening injuries

On Friday, April 26, 2019 at approximately 10:10 p.m., the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, the Welland Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Regional Road 27 east of Philips Road in the Township of Wainfleet, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ont.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2005 Nissan Altima motor vehicle was being driven eastbound on Regional Road 27 by a 33-year-old male. The driver lost control of the motor vehicle and collided with a tree on the south side of the road.

The male driver of the Nissan suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital before being air lifted to an out of town hospital. A 26-year-old female passenger of the Nissan suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit.
