Search warrant leads to recovery of over $8,000 in stolen property

The investigation was of stolen property in both St. Catharines and Thorold and two people have been arrested and charged

During the month of July 2019, members of the #1 District Street Crime Unit, with support from #1 District uniform patrol, initiated an investigation into stolen property in St.Catharines and Thorold.

On July 25, 2019 Detectives from the #1 District Street Crime Unit were granted judicial authorization to execute a Criminal Code search warrant in south St.Catharines. Detectives recovered over $8,000 in stolen property on or near the residence.

Charged with one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of break, enter and commit an indictable offence,one count of theft under $5,000, and one count of breach of probation is 18-year-old Matthew Belisle of St.Catharines.

Charged with one count of possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of break, enter, and commit theft, one count of theft under $5,000, and five counts of fraud under $5,000 is 20-year-old Kaylee Van De Byl of no fixed abode 

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 26, 2019 at 59 Church Street, St.Catharines.
