School bus collision results in impaired charge for St. Catharines driver

1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were called to the area of Forest Hill Road and Glenridge Avenue at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 following the report of a collision.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision, including a school bus without children on it at the time.

There were no serious injuries sustained in the collision; a male driver of one of the vehicles involved was taken into custody.

Thirty-two-year-old Roger George Funovitz of the City of St. Catharines is facing the following alleged charges:
    •    Impaired operation conveyance/drugs S. 320.14(1)(1) contrary to the Criminal Code
    •    Driving while under suspension contrary to S.53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Funovitz is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, Feb. 20, 2020 at the Robert. S.K Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
