QEW collision claims life of 23-year-old Lincoln man

On Saturday Jan. 11, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers along with Ontario Provincial Police, Niagara Emergency Medical Services and Lincoln Fire Services responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on the QEW adjacent to the South Service Road in the area of Sann Road in the Town of Lincoln.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2004 Honda Accord motor vehicle was being driven eastbound on the South Service Road by a 23-year-old male. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the eastbound lanes of the QEW. The Honda was struck by an eastbound, loaded commercial motor vehicle.

The driver, from the Town of Lincoln, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This collision remains under investigation by the Coroner's Office and Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.

The South Service Road and the QEW was closed for several hours for the investigation, reopening at approximately 6:30am on Sunday January 12, 2020.
