Police want to speak with two males 'acting suspiciously' in St. Catharines

St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called by a member of the public for a report of a two males acting suspiciously.

Officers attended a north end St. Catharines home and commenced an investigation. Officers learned that on Feb. 23, 2021, at approximately 3:25 p.m. a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl were walking home on the sidewalk from school. 

They were westbound on Parnell Road near Niagara Street in St. Catharines.

The girls noticed a lone adult male also walking westbound on the roadway approximately 3-4 metres away. The male was talking on his cell phone. He was speaking at a volume that the girls could hear he was speaking about them. The girls became concerned and waited for another parent who was also walking in the area.

The unknown male kept walking and got into the backseat of a vehicle in the area of Parnell Road and Niagara Street. The car left the area south bound on Niagara Street.

 The car is described as a:

  • Maroon / burgundy sedan with grey spots on the roof

The driver of the car is described as:

  • Male, white, 20-30 years old
  • Wearing a hat and a plaid or camouflage green bandana over his face

The male who had been walking is described as:

  • Male, white, 20-30 years old
  • Wearing a baggy black jacket, black beanie, and no mask

The males did not communicate directly with the girls.  At this time there are no grounds to believe a criminal offence took place. The NRPS would like to identify the males and determine their intentions.
