On Wednesday April 17, 2019 at 6:35 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service's Communications Unit received a 911 call during which the caller indicated that there was an incident unfolding at the Pen Center located at 221 Glendale Avenue in the City of St. Catharines. The 911 caller went on to state that there was imminent danger to the public and that firearms were involved.
As a result of this call, several uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to the area to ensure the safety of the public. Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that there was no immediate threat to the public and the information provided in the call placed to the Police Communications Unit was fabricated.
With the assistance of Pen Centre Security, Officers were able obtain video footage and captured images of a male suspect who utilized a specific payphone at the time the 911 call was made.
Police are asking for the assistance of the public in order to ascertain the identity of the male suspect.
- The suspect is described as:
- White male
- Approximately 20-30 years old
- Between 5'7'' to 6'2'' feet tall
- Brown hair, buzz cut
- Unshaven with brown hair
- Wearing orange zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white strings
- White t-shirt with gold lettering
- Blue t-shirt under the white shirt
- Light blue jeans
- White/grey running shoes
