With the closure of the Welland Canal for the winter season, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Marine Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and Emergency Task Unit will be out on foot searching the canal shoreline from Lock 1 to Lock 2 for missing teen Quintin Bingley on Thursday Jan. 3 and Friday Jan. 4 2019.

Eighteen-year-old Quintin Bingley went missing in the City of St. Catharines on May 26, 2018. Efforts to locate him have since been unsuccessful.

While the Niagara Regional Police Service appreciates that Quintin's whereabouts have raised public attention and concern and have received numerous offers of assistance, due to the hazards associated with the canal, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation and Police ask that the public refrain from attending the canal banks to aid in the search and allow the officers involved to safety and thoroughly conduct this search.
