Police K9 successfully tracks robbery suspect in Niagara Falls

Police dog Ranger led officers to the suspect in a residence in the area of Crawford Street and Thorold Stone Road in the City of Niagara Falls

On Jan. 20, 2021, at approximately 1:21 a.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers attended the 7-11 Convenience Store, located in the area of Dorchester Road and Thorold Stone Road, in the City of Niagara Falls, in regards to a robbery.

Information revealed that an unknown male had entered the store, brandished a knife at a female employee, and demanded cash.

The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival, however a successful K9 track by PSD Ranger, led officers to the suspect in a residence in the area of Crawford Street and Thorold Stone Road, in the City of Niagara Falls.

A 17-year-old male from Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Robbery

He was held in custody with a future court date.

There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibits the Niagara Regional Police Service from identifying the male.
