Police investigating fatal crash on Town Line Road

On July 9, 2019, at approximately 2:35 p.m. uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service 1 District (Thorold / St. Catharines) responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision in the city of Thorold.

Officers arrived on scene along with personnel from Thorold Fire Services and Niagara Emergency Medical Services in the area of Thorold Town Line Road between Beaverdams Road and Thoroldstone Road in Thorold.

The initial investigation found that a black Honda SUV had collided with a dump truck. As a result of the collision the driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old female from Niagara Falls was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, a 57-year-old male from Welland was treated at the scene.

The Honda SUV was destroyed as a result of the collision. The dump truck sustained light front end damage.

Due to the collision, diesel fuel from the dump truck did leak at the scene.

At the time of this release, the involved portion of Thorold Townline Road remains closed due to roadway damage.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
