On July 8, 2019, at approximately 12:15 p.m., uniform officers from the 3 District (Welland) office of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a residence in the area of Michael Drive and Woodlawn Road in Welland to assist paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Services.
On the arrival of emergency services personal, a 67-year-old woman was found deceased in a residence.
As a result of the immediate investigation by uniform officers at the scene an arrest was made of a person on scene. That person has been since released from custody unconditionally.
Officers will be holding the scene as the investigation remains ongoing by detectives from the Homicide Unit.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
