Pelham man arrested for firearms offences

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday May 14, 2019, 3 District (Welland) uniform officers were called to a home on Beckett Crescent in the Town of Pelham for the report of a distraught male.

Responding officers then received information regarding the possible presence of a firearm in the home and out of an abundance of caution, the home was contained and the Emergency Task Unit was engaged. Residents in nearby homes were asked to shelter-in-place.

With the assistance of crisis negotiators, at approximately 11:55 a.m., the male surrendered peacefully to officers and was subsequently arrested.

42-year-old Michael Misener of Pelham is facing the following alleged charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon for A Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of A Prohibited Firearm
  • Possession of A Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order

Misener is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
