Niagara-on-the-Lake man charged with fraud after report of 'a failed business arrangement'

The 62-year-old faces fraud, false pretence charges

A Niagara-on-the-Lake man is facing fraud related charges following a lengthy investigation.

The investigation commenced in December 2017 following the report of a failed business arrangement. Subsequent investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service Central Fraud Unit resulted in the arrest of a 62-year-old man on Thursday February 13, 2020.

62-year-old Peter Corbiere of the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is facing the following alleged charges:

  • Fraud over $5000 contrary to section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • False pretence contrary to section 362(1)(c)(ii) of the Criminal Code

Corbiere was released on a promise to appear with a future court date of March 18, 2020 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines Incident 17-124423.
