Niagara Falls driver charged with impaired near Greater Napanee

GREATER NAPANEE - On July 5, 2020 at approximately 8 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an erratic driver on 401 eastbound that had just exited the highway at the Greater Napanee exit.

A short time later Police located the vehicle at a motel on County road 41, Greater Napanee and initiated an investigation. As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have arrested and charged Andre Croteau, age 55, of Niagara Falls, Ont. contrary to the Criminal Code with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs; and
    •    Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit
 
The accused was further charged contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act with possession of a schedule I substance.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Sept. 8, 2020. The accused's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
