Narcotics, accordion seized during break-in investigation

In December of 2020, 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) commenced a break and enter investigation into a north end St. Catharines storage unit.

The break and enter to the storage unit occurred in the area of Vine Street and Carlton Street. The storage unit was contained in a multi-unit residential apartment building.

The investigation was assigned to detectives from the 1 District Street Crime Unit. In December, officers learned of an online Kijiji sales advertisement selling some of the stolen items. The investigation by detectives was able to identify a female suspect.

On March 2, 2021, detectives arranged to meet with the female suspect in St. Catharines. When the female and a male arrived to meet the detectives, they were arrested.

A search of the male, female and the car following their arrest resulted in detectives seizing suspected illegal drugs, suspected stolen property and money believed to be proceeds of criminal activity.

In total 75.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine (valued $7,600), 10 grams of fentanyl (valued at $3,000), and $2,255 in Canadian currency was seized.

Detectives located an accordion in the car. The suspects are not believed to be accordion musicians and detectives suspect it may be stolen.

Alissia Mary Wells (18 years old) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the offences of:
    •    Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking S.5(2) CDSA  
    •    Possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking S.5(2) CDSA 
    •    Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000 S.355(b) CC   
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 S. 355(b) CC

Dustin Gerrard Landry (36 years old) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the offences of:
    •    Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking S.5(2) CDSA
    •    Possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking S.5(2) CDSA
    •    Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000 S.355(b) CC

Wells and Landry were both transported to the NRPS Prisoner Management Unit in Niagara Falls. They have both been released on Form 10 Undertakings with future court dates.
