Hamilton woman accused of defrauding long term care home

This is as a result of an investigation that took place in October 2019

In October of 2019, the Niagara Regional Police Central Fraud Unit commenced an investigation into suspected fraudulent activities involving a long term care home, located in the town of Lincoln.

The investigation revealed that in June of 2019,  the long term care facility had entered into a contract with the Director of [name removed], a company providing temporary Personal Support Workers (PSW). The Central Fraud Unit Detectives further learned that certain workers provided were not certified Personal Support Workers.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, May 28, 2020, a 41-year-old woman from Hamilton, Ontario was arrested.

[Name removed] was charged with the alleged offences of:  

  • Fraud Over $5000  
  • Uttering a Forged Document (3 Counts)

[Name removed] was released from custody with a scheduled court date of Monday, July 27, 2020, at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church St., in the City of St. Catharines.

There are no concerns for the well-being of the residents located at the long term care facilities.
