Gunman in Niagara Falls shooting identified

Suspect is at large and believed to be armed and dangerous, say police

On Aug. 2, 2019 at approximately 7:33 p.m., officers were called to an address on Willoughby Drive in the City of Niagara Falls in response to a shooting.

Two District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), along with Detectives from the 2 District Criminal Investigation Branch attended the scene.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect has been identified as David Josesph 91/02/25. Joseph is currently wanted for the following offences:

  • Discharge firearm with intent to wound / endanger life Section 244(1) CC
  • Pointing a firearm Section 87(1) CC
  • Careless use of a firearm Section 86(1) CC
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order Section 117.01(1) CC

Josesph's whereabouts are unknown at this time. He was last seen operating a 2012 black Fiat, bearing Ontario licence plate #CJKL 632. It is believed that one or more of the vehicle's windows received damaged.

Josesph is believed to be armed and dangerous; therefore, members of the public should not approach Josesph and are urged to call 9-1-1 if he is observed.

No one was injured as a result of this incident.

This incident is believed to be an isolated matter.
