Fourth youth charged in connection to St. Catharines bank robbery

Three others – aged 15, 16 and 18 – previously charged in January investigation

The investigation into this matter has remained ongoing by 1 District detectives.

The investigation revealed that on Jan. 30, 2020, three armed masked males attended a Scotia Bank in the area of Geneva Street and the North Service Road in St. Catharines. The males attempted to gain entry to the open bank but were unable to do so and left the area in a car.

As a result of that investigation on Feb. 2, 2020, at a court appearance the accused 15-year-old, 16-year-old, and 18-year-old Roel Lloyd were charged with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offences of:
    •    Attempt to commit indictable offence (robbery with a firearm) – CC 463(a)
    •    Disguise with intent - CC 351(2)
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose - CC 88(1)
    •    Carrying a concealed weapon - CC 90(1)
    •    Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm - CC 91(2)
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - motor vehicle - CC 355(a)
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime - Ontario license plate under $5,000 - CC 355 (b)

On March 9, 2020, detectives arrested a fourth person in relation to the Jan. 31, 2020, Bank of Montreal robbery. A second 15-year-old male from Mississauga has been arrested and charged with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offences of:
    •    Robbery with a firearm - CC 343(d)
    •    Flight from police - CC 320.17
    •    Dangerous operation - CC 320.13
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - CC 354(1)(a)
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - CC 354(1)(b)
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose - CC 88(1)
    •    Using an imitation firearm during commission of indictable offence - CC 85(2)(c)

He was held in custody for a bail hearing on March 10, 2020 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
