Former Niagara Region army cadet director charged in fraud investigation

In April of 2020, detectives with the Fraud Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), began an investigation into a fraud regarding the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (RCACC) located in the West Niagara Region.

The RCACC is a national Canadian youth program sponsored by the Canadian Armed Forces and the Civilian Army Cadet League of Canada that gives youth the opportunity to be involved in various outdoor activities, training and skill development.

Initial information received was that funds that were collected through charitable functions for the RCACC had been missing.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to determine the funds were [allegedly] being used for personal matters by a previous director.

On Jan. 21, 2021, Tracey L. Routsky (51 years old) of Grimsby, was arrested and charged with the following offence of:
    •    Theft over $5,000

Routsky was released on a Form 10 - Undertaking with a future court date.
