Drug investigation in Niagara Falls leads to a pair of arrests

Both people are facing weapons and trafficking charges

In July of 2020, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service, 2 District (Niagara Falls) Street Crime Unit, began an investigation into the sales of fentanyl, at a motel, in the area of Queen Street and Zimmerman Avenue, in the City of Niagara Falls.

The investigation led detectives to identify a male and a female, selling fentanyl from that location.

On July 22nd, 2020, detectives with 2 District (Niagara Falls) Street Crime and the Emergency Task Unit, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  As a result, the two suspects were arrested.

Subsequently, detectives seized 25.7 grams of fentanyl. The controlled substances carry an estimated street value of $7,710.

Michael T. Croft (38 years old) of Niagara Falls, Ont., was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences of:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule 1 substance (opioid fentanyl) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) CC (2 Counts)
  • Carry concealed weapon contrary to section 90(1) CC
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) CC
  • Possession of prohibited/restricted weapon contrary to section 91(2) CC
  • Possession of weapon contrary to prohibition order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC]

Croft is being held in custody and is expected to appear for a bail hearing on July, 23, 2020, at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.

Kelsey M. Davidson (25 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences of:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule 1 substance (opioid fentanyl) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) CC
  • Carry concealed weapon contrary to section 90(1) CC
  • Possession of prohibited/restricted weapon contrary to section 91(2) CC

Davidson was released on a Form 10-Undertaking and is expected to appear at court on Sept. 30, 2020, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
