Cyclist found in Niagara on the Lake ditch with life-threatening injuries

At approximately 1:04 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, the Niagara on the Lake Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to reports of a cyclist found unresponsive lying in the south side ditch of East and West Line Road near Townline Road in the Town of Niagara on the Lake, within the Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ont.

Initial investigation revealed that a 71-year-old St. Davids male was riding his bicycle on East and West Line when he left the roadway and entered the south side ditch. This rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to an out of town hospital in critical condition.

This incident remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses who may have information regarding this incident are asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, ext. 5500.
