Arrest made in Niagara Falls stabbing investigation

On July 30, 2019 at approximately 8:30 a.m., uniform officers from the 2 District (Niagara Falls) office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a Niagara Falls residence for a report of a stabbing.

Officers along with paramedics attended a residence in the area of Dunn Street and Orchard Avenue in Niagara Falls. On arrival officers discovered a 39-year-old man suffering from serious injuries from a knife. Officers located the suspect still on scene.

James Arthur Honsberger (33 years old) of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with the alleged offences of:
    •    aggravated assault
    •    breach probation (two counts)

The victim was transported to a local hospital and subsequently to an out of town trauma hospital. The victim remains in serious but stable condition.

The scene was held for a period of time a pending examination by detectives from the 2 District Criminal Investigation Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.

Honsberger was held in custody and will appear at a bail hearing on July 31, 2019, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
