Arrest made after woman stabbed in St. Catharines

On Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at approximately 8:22 p.m., 1 District (St. Catharines) Uniform Officers, were in the area of Church Street and Niagara Street in the City of St. Catharines when officers were approached by a 35-year-old female advising she had been stabbed.

Initial information revealed that a female and a male suspect got into a verbal dispute when the suspect stabbed the female.

The female was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, officers were able to identify a male suspect.

Iqbal Khan (51 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the following offence of: 

  • Aggravated assault contrary S. 268 of the Criminal Code   

Khan was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Oct. 20, 2020, at the Robert. S. K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
