Arrest made after Fort Erie bank robbery

On May 8, 2020 at approximately 12:40 p.m., 5 District – Fort Erie uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police responded to a robbery call at the CIBC Bank on Niagara Boulevard near Princess Street in the Town of Fort Erie.

The investigation by officers determined that a man had entered the bank wearing clothing that was concealing his face and demanded money from a teller. No weapon was observed and there was no mention of a weapon.

The suspect fled from the bank prior to officers' arrival.

Officers were able to quickly identify the suspect and located him a short distance away. He was arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen currency.

Michael Mrozek (51 years old) of Fort Erie had been arrested and charged with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offence of:
    •    Robbery contrary to section 344(1)(b)

Mrozek was held in custody for a bail hearing. He will appear via video at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse on May 9, 2020.
