On Feb. 18, 2019, Welland resident Joshua Nuziato was arrested by three District Uniform Officers for an unrelated matter. During their investigation, Uniform Officers formulated grounds believing Nuziato was in possession of a quantity of drugs and currency. As a result, a vehicle belonging to Nuziato was seized and held.
On Feb. 20, 2019, members of the Welland Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant upon Nuziato's vehicle which yielded in the seizure of over 600 grams of cocaine, which was packaged for distribution, and a large sum of Canadian currency.
The packaged cocaine has an estimated street value of $60,000. Further investigation indicates Nuziato has been involved in the sales of cocaine for a period of time.
Joshua Nuziato has been charged with possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime. Nuziato has been held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing in the City of St. Catharines.
