PAMELA MARGARET YOUNG - 93, St. Catharines, Ontario, passed away on February 10, 2021 St. Catharines, Ontario.

Pamela was born in Hastings, New Zealand to Frank and Ethel Maisy on May 10, 1927. After attending school in Hastings she went on to complete her Nursing Certificate at Auckland Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She had an artistic flair and was an accomplished women's fashion designer and creative writer. Her abiding love for animals was reflected in her lifelong dedication to abandoned pets and her association with numerous animal welfare organizations. Pamela is survived by sons Adam, Paul and David, nieces Suzanne, Barbara, Margaret, Robyn, Heather and Karen and nephew Graham. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. William Young, parents Frank and Ethel Maisy, sister Theola, brother-in-law Gavin, niece Nicola and nephew Roger.

Caring for others was in Pamela's DNA. She was not one to seek the limelight but was justly proud of her career in nursing. Her life's work spanned 50 years in four countries. She was fortified in this arduous endeavour by a natural optimism and love. Though not religious in a traditional sense, Pamela had a steadfast faith in God and chose to practice her devotion through good works and loving kindness. A tireless protector and voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, Pamela will be deeply missed by her loving family, many friends and close circle of confidants. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lincoln County Humane Society, 160 Fourth Avenue, St. Catharines, ON L2S 0B6.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of St. Catharines General Hospital for the excellent care provided during Pamela's recent hip operation. We give them and everyone else who cared for Pam our deep gratitude. Bocchinfuso Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. It was Pamela's wish that no service be held at this time and instead the family will honour Pam with a private Life Remembrance. A Celebration of Life will be organized later this year.
